Miss Coleman visits

As most of you will know I was lucky enough to visit our link school in Tanzania this summer. It was an amazing experience and I am so grateful for the opportunity of meeting such lovely people. I was made to feel so welcome by all the staff and the children were wonderful!! They were always smiling and loved having their photos taken.
They were so interested to hear about life in the UK and
feel very proud that their school has links with St James.
With an average of about 50 children in each class, the
teachers certainly have their work cut out, but the
children are eager to learn and get down to their work very
quickly and quietly – even the little ones!
The school does not have many teaching resources, but I was
so impressed to see how the children shared text books and
pencils and helped each other. Thank you to all those
people who helped raise money before I went.

We raised just over £200 which enabled me to take lots of goodies over! I took some sports equipment including cricket sets, tennis balls, footballs, frizbees and baseball sets which the children loved.
I also took a variety of educational
posters for the teachers to use in the classrooms and loads
of pencils, rubbers, pens, note pads , crayons and books. I
also made bookmarks for every child so they all have a
reminder of their friends at St James C of E Primary
School.
I took some bubble mixture too which the younger
children thought was fabulous!
Alice Nalugwa, the Headteacher at St Augustine’s is
coming to visit us from 17th September which we are all
very excited about. It will be lovely to show her what we
do at St James and to strengthen the link between our two
schools.
